When we play piano, are we expressing the music through ourselves, or are we expressing ourselves through the music?
This is not an abstract question – it’s practical. So even though an answer may have already popped into your mind, resist the temptation to give it a label and file it away.
Stay with the question. Explore it each time you sit down to play piano. For a week, or a month.
It’s not about answering the question. It’s about where the question leads you, in your actual experience.
Who knows? A question like this may lead us to experience music in a whole new way. (If we let it.)
