A trick to play more beautiful piano

Here’s a quick trick to help you play a piano piece more beautifully:

Choose a gentle or pretty piece of music that you can play well. Before you play the actual piece, close your eyes and play one note, any note, on the piano. Play it as beautifully as you can and let the sound flow into you. Let the note ring until it naturally fades away.

Then, and only then, open your eyes and play your piece.

This actually works, and I just saw it again this morning with one of my piano students. It doesn’t matter how young or old you are or if you’re a beginner or advanced. But don’t pre-judge this. You have to do it. The magic might happen immediately or it might take a few days. But it will happen for you if you approach it wholeheartedly.

Give it a try and see what happens!

Whether you’re just getting started with piano improv or need to take your current playing to the next level, here are some free lessons for you to enjoy. Have fun!
